The Smoogo Modesta is the last car made under Alexei Smoogo's management. It's produced and sold only in simmunist countries
(except for Shina and North Simorea, where it's exported the Maxima instead) and it's exported only to Sitaly,
the only western country that imports it together with the Maxima, with a good success.
Unlike the Maxima, a model made exclusively for western countries, the Modesta doesn't have any new feature.
Indeed, part of the mechanical layout of the car is derived from the shortened platform of the old 732,
and it adopts Multilink suspensions borrowed from the old Istanbul. Produced only as a five doors hatchback,
the Modesta features the old SMED-01-V4 engine of the Istanbul, now produced exclusively for this model.
After the death of Alexei Smoogo, the new president, Radovan Jitmakusol, chose to stop the development of this model,
that is still produced with the old logo and without any update on the mechanics, nor on the engine and the styling.
In 1999 it was available in two different trim levels: the cheap "STD" fitted with the v4 engine of the Istanbul, and the "XTD" version,
that featured a more powerful version of the V4 engine revised by the SMED. Since 2004 is available only in the "STD" trim level.
Now the Modesta is the oldest Smoogo still in production, and it has been completely abandoned to its fate by the new management.
