Model Name: Istanbul FDV

The Smoogo Istanbul was the sedan version of the 720. It shared only the same platform of the 720,
but for the other components it's a completely different car: the engine, an aircooled V4, was made especially for this model,
and it used (like the 720) the Duroplast for the body of the car.
The istanbul (an achronym that means "Istanyshan Bulanozyev Sermanija Est" "Made in East Sermany") was a result of the
Smoogo's decision to project the car entirely in the Kommunaar plant in East Sermany,
that's the reason because there was an embossed hammer and compass on the car nameplate.
Usually, Istanbuls were produced in the Smoogo plant of Kommunaar. There were made various versions:
the TDV (three doors), the FDV (four doors version), and the shooting brake version, called "Universal".
The engines were an 1.3 V4 for the STD and an 1.5 V4 for the XTD trim levels both for TDV and FDV versions.
The Istanbul was produced from 1974 to 2000.
